Stand-alone Software Solution Perfect for All Enterprise with 20 To 5,000 Systems Connected to LAN/WAN IDG’s Networking Product Of The Year Finalist

LOGINventory™ 4.0 brings cost-effective, easy-to-use PC asset management to small- and medium-sized businesses

Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, June 15, 2004: LOGIN GmbH, a provider of PC asset management software, is now offering version 4.0 of LOGINventory™. This IT management lifesaver inventories all PC hardware, resident software and assets connected to the LAN across the company. Its ease of use and low cost bring the benefits of automated management to even the smallest of enterprises, while augmenting other tools available to IT managers in larger firms.

Already in use in the IT departments of many well-known companies, LOGINventory controls costs, ensures adequate licensing and maintains hardware and software assets across the enterprise. Daimler-Chrysler, Siemens, Philip Morris, Sony and Kraft, among dozens of other multi-nationals, trust LOGINventory 4.0 to manage their PC-based assets.

"LOGINventory gives the fair-sized enterprise a quick and easy way to manage its Windows client-side software and hardware assets, and to derive usage metrics to manage licensing needs, without installing agents or paying the higher price of enterprise asset management software," said Anne MacFarland, Director of Enterprise Architectures and Infrastructure Solutions at The Clipper Group, Inc. in Wellesley, MA.

For many SMB IT managers, the cost of asset management systems is difficult to justify. Managing configurations solely at the time of asset distribution, leaves many managers unaware what upgrades have happened until a complaint or service request is made. Attempting to maintain a manual inventory for even as few as 50 PCs is a daunting task and can result in errors and missed assets. And enterprise-class IT management suites can be too expensive for most SMBs.

"We used to collect data manually for our corporate PCs but this process was fraught with potential errors and required many man-hours each quarter," said Stephen G. Smith, Systems Administrator of Optimus Corporation, a privately-held, software developer and systems integrator in Fort Collins, CO. "With LOGINventory 4.0, this process has been reduced to a matter of minutes, leaving us more time to analyze our needs and improve overall efficiency for the company."

Cost-effective and easy to use

LOGINventory 4.0 is available as a download from the Internet. At a miniscule 5.25 Mbytes, retrieving the application takes seconds and installation is complete and ready to inventory a network in less than three minutes. In usually far less than an hour, the savvy IT manager can scan all the PC assets under his charge and see the configuration of each machine. Management of software licenses, hardware configurations, drivers, patches, service packs and updates becomes straightforward.

A version for monitoring less than 20 PCs is available free of charge for immediate and easy evaluation. A tiered cost structure is in place for smaller businesses while larger enterprises benefit from per machine costs as low as $5.60. All licenses are a one-time cost and can be upgraded as the business grows. All licensees receive lifetime updates and support.

LOGINventory 4.0 runs on Windows NT 4.0, 2000, XP or 2003. It scans the assets of clients running any version of Windows starting with Windows 95. Without the need to install a client agent and using TCP/IP to scan clients connected to the LAN, the software collects data from approximately 150 PCs per minute. Microsoft Jet is integrated into LOGINventory 4.0 to allow for custom-report definition and configuration tracking over time. Alternatively, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Desktop Engine, Oracle 8/9, MySQL or PostgreSQL can be used at the administrator’s option.

"We are giving IT managers the right product at the right price for increasing productivity and competitive advantage for their businesses," said Ken Walser, vice president of North American sales and operations. "We are aware of no other product in the market today that offers the functionality and ease of use provided by LOGINventory at price points so attractive to small and medium-sized businesses."
