LOGINventory5.2: Enjoy the experience of Eureka moments
We are happy to announce the availability of new version 5.2 of our Windows network inventory and discovery solution LOGINventory. Most significant changes have been made in the network scanner LOGINquiry, introducing some new setting options and inventory items like Microsoft Volume License activation status etc.
Improved network scanner (LOGINquiry)
To save licenses or because the evaluation of certain computers is not important, one can now exclude complete lists of PCs from scanning by their names or by IP address ranges. A scan source may now also be a text file containing asset names and/or IP addresses. In addition, LOGINquiry is gathering more information like the encryption status of hard disks, current and maximal processor speed, the activation status of MS Volume Licenses, and the enumeration of virtual guests on VMware ESX, vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V.
LOGINventory Management Console (LMC)
Via the filter editor for IP addresses in the Asset node, it is now possible to destinctively filter for subnets, e.g. for "10.11.0.0/16". The Analyse evaluation date can now be defined relative to the actual time; a feature similar to the GetDate() function in LOGINventory v4. Furthermore, the printing/reporting performance was generally improved.
Webinterface
The LOGINventory Webinterface add-on (based on .NET Framework 3.5) has undergone improvements both in performance and in handling: Current views may now be exported to .csv format for a better processing. Via an integrated refresh button the user can directly update and display the data from the connected database. Buttons for browsing forward and backwards within the Webinterface application are enabled now.
PowerShell scripting
The LOGINventory PowerShell add-on has reached release status. Based on the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0, LOGINventory5 allows scripting and automation via the MS Windows PowerShell 2.0. With the help of this add-on, administrators can be automatically informed about the status of specified asset attributes or asset properties like i.e. license violations without accessing the LOGINventory user interface. PowerShell commands can be executed via command prompt which opens when clicking the application via start menu.
Upgrade Advisor
The new LOGINventory Upgrade Advisor is a helpful tool for users planning to upgrade from v4 to v5. In contrast to the Migration Wizard the Upgrade Advisor does not need any installation of v5 − it works with the existing v4 installation and lets the user know about the amount of licenses required for LOGINventory5. If more licenses are needed than with v4, the tool is able to create a license voucher which may be redeemed in conjunction with the upgrade to v5.
Existing LOGINventory5 customers are advised to make an update to latest v5.2. You will get LOGINventory, the Webinterface and the LOGINventory PowerShell Scripting for free download here.
Interested first-time users can download a free version supporting scan and evaluation of 20 assets on the network. For latest technical detail information integrated in new build versions, please visit the LOGIN Developer Blog.
